Australian gin brands have been rising rapidly in the international gin scene over recent years, and it looks as though this trend is set to continue with the announcement of Shene Estate and Distillery’s Poltergeist Gin – Unfiltered winning a hat-trick at this year’s San Francisco World Spirits Competition.

Winning a Double Gold in 2017, 2018 and 2019 for the Best Gin Category, Shene Estate and Distillery has become the first craft gin distillery to win the inaugural Platinum Award.
Held in San Francisco from March 22-24, 2019, the San Francisco World Spirit Competition highlights the most renowned micro-distillers and celebrates quality spirits.
Gintonica notes about Shene Estate and Distillery
Whisky came first for the Shene Estate and Distillery. However, a few years back they began to experiment with the distillation of gin which came to conclusion in 2014, when the recipe for Poltergeist Gin was finalised. The first batches of Poltergeist were distilled and bottled in 2014.
Made in a 300 litre Knapp Lewer copper pot, their gins botanicals include, juniper berries, cassia bark, angelica root, star anise, macadamia nut, lemon peel, lemon myrtle, orris root, Tasmanian pepper berries, cardamom pods, liquorice root sticks and coriander seeds.
