How is sloe gin made?
The exact process of making sloe gin varies depending on the recipe, but typically, the berries or plums and gin are combined in a bottle or jar and left to steep for several weeks. Some recipes call for adding sugar to the mixture, while others do not.
Once the fruit has steeped in the gin for the required amount of time, the mixture is strained and bottled, giving the gin its characteristic deep ruby colour and sweet, tart flavour.
How to serve sloe gin
Sloe gin can be enjoyed in a number of ways. It’s great as a classic G&T, neat, on the rocks and in a cocktail. Depending on the season, you could also try it in a sloe gin fizz or a sloe berry and prosecco cocktail.
